The meetings of the foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan were constructive. U.S. Department of State

Official Washington is deeply concerned about the incident and victims in Nagorno-Karabakh, expressing condolences to the families of all the victims. As "The Voice of America" reports, the representative of the U.S. State Department in a briefing with journalists today referred to the clash that took place in Nagorno-Karabakh, as a result of which four Armenian servicemen were killed.

In response to the question, Deputy Spokesman of the State Department Vedant Patel said. "We are deeply concerned about the victims in Nagorno-Karabakh (as a result of the incident) and express our condolences to the families of all the victims. These recent incidents highlight the need to refrain from hostilities and establish a lasting and dignified peace. The United States is committed to supporting the parties to achieve this goal, and Secretary Blinken is directly involved in the peace process. Direct dialogue is key to solving problems and achieving a lasting and dignified peace."

According to the deputy speaker, the meetings of the foreign ministers were constructive. "We continue to rely on these discussions to ensure the continuation of peace negotiations. So there is no change in the schedule... We will continue the work in this direction."

Responding to journalists' questions about the possible freezing or reduction of activity in the negotiation process, as well as the involvement of Louis Bono, the senior adviser of the U.S. Department of State on Caucasus negotiations, Patel emphasized that the US Secretary of State and Louis Bono continue to be actively involved in the process.

"This is a process where we will continue to be directly involved with the foreign ministers of the parties. As you know, the Secretary of State had the opportunity to meet with them yesterday in bilateral and trilateral formats. We expect that these peace negotiations will continue," the American diplomat said.

Refusing to give details about the negotiation process, Vedant Patel emphasized the role of the United States in the process. "... We are very happy to invite and host the parties. This is the function we performed last time when we hosted these same talks earlier this year."

He also informed that the negotiations are proceeding as planned without any changes in the schedule.

For his part, the spokesperson of the US State Department, Matthew Miller, also referred to yesterday's incident in a tweet, stressing: "We are deeply concerned about the loss of life in Nagorno Karabakh. These recent incidents emphasize the need to refrain from hostilities and establish a lasting and dignified peace. The United States is committed to supporting the parties in achieving this goal," Miller said.
