We expect that the member states of the UN Security Council will show a principled position. Artsakh MFA

We expect that the member states of the UN Security Council will show consistency and a principled position in preventing further criminal actions against the people of Artsakh and will strengthen their position by adopting the resolution. Artsakh MFA issued a statement about this.

"We welcome the session of the UN Security Council held on August 16, 2023, dedicated to the discussion of the humanitarian disaster that arose in the Republic of Artsakh as a result of the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor by Azerbaijan. We express our gratitude to those countries that remained faithful to the principles of international law and humanism and in their speeches emphasized the need for the urgent unblocking of the Lachin Corridor and the supply of vital goods to the needy population of Artsakh.

At the same time, it is disappointing that individual delegations have tried to find an imaginary and extremely dangerous balance between the desire of the people of Artsakh to live freely, safely and with dignity in their homeland and Azerbaijan's ambitions to subjugate and destroy them by force. There can be no compromise between, on the one hand, the universal values of freedom, human dignity, peace and justice, and, on the other hand, extreme manifestations of systematic and large-scale violations of human rights carried out with the aim of physical destruction of people.

We expect that the member states of the UN Security Council will show consistency and a principled position in preventing further criminal actions against the people of Artsakh and strengthen their position by adopting a resolution that will oblige Azerbaijan to lift the illegal blockade of the Lachin Corridor without any preconditions and interconnection with alternative routes by 2020. in strict accordance with the tripartite declaration of November 9 and the decisions of the International Court of Justice. Given Azerbaijan's clear genocidal intent, any attempt to obstruct UN Security Council efforts to end Artsakh's inhumane siege and humanitarian disaster would be tantamount to tacit approval, if not complicity, in Baku's crimes," the statement said.
