The Artsakh MFA referred to the news about a possible meeting between Stepanakert and Baku in Barda
The Department of Information and Public Relations of the MFA of the Artsakh Republic answered the media's question whether the news about a meeting between Stepanakert and Baku in Barda is true.
" The BBC-Azerbaijani service, referring to its sources, reports that the authorities of Karabakh are inclined to agree to the opening of the Aghdam road, and that in the coming days a meeting will be held between the parties on this issue in Barda. Does this information correspond to reality?
" We would like to emphasize that the Artsakh side has always acted in a peaceful way, from the position of a comprehensive settlement of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict through negotiations. At the same time, such negotiations should proceed within the framework of the international format agreed between the parties, which will allow to guarantee that the negotiations are conducted in accordance with the norms and requirements of international law. The Artsakh side has many times through mediators made proposals for meetings, but the Azeri side has rejected them."
"Let us add that any meeting on the territory of Azerbaijan, even more so without the presence of international mediators, contains quite big risks, especially considering the fact of the kidnapping of Vagif Khachatryan, who is under the mandate of the ICRC, in the presence of Russian peacekeepers."
"As for the Aghdam road, the spokesperson of the President of the Republic of Armenia spoke about that topic today."
