The ECtHR satisfied the request of RA and the interim measure applied to Azerbaijan

The ECtHR fully satisfied the RA government's request and applied an interim measure against Azerbaijan. This was reported by the representative of the Republic of Armenia for International Legal Affairs.

Taking into account the fact that the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh leads to a serious risk of violation of the rights guaranteed by the Convention and despite the ceasefire agreement reached on September 20 of this year, on September 22 of this year the European Court of Human Rights, satisfying the request submitted by the RA government, against Azerbaijan apply an intermediate measure.

In particular, the ECHR obliged Azerbaijan to refrain from any action that could lead to the violation of the rights guaranteed by Articles 2 (right to life) and 3 (prohibition of torture) of the Convention.

The ECHR also made a decision to urgently notify the CE Committee of Ministers about this.
