We expect that research will be conducted Regarding the lost property of the forcibly displaced Armenian population from the territory of Azerbaijan in 1988-1992: statement

The Gardman-Shirvan-Nakhijevan Pan-Armenian Union issued a statement regarding the issue of the return of lost property.

"As it became known, Armenia is filing the 4th interstate complaint against Azerbaijan in the ECtHR regarding the restoration of property rights in Nagorno Karabakh. As a result of the war unleashed against Nagorno-Karabakh on September 19-20, the entire Armenian population of Nagorno-Karabakh underwent ethnic cleansing within a few days, leaving their homes at gunpoint. The forcibly displaced people had to leave all their immovable property, a significant part of their movable property. The vast majority arrived in Armenia without basic necessities. Therefore, the issue of protection of property rights is of vital importance for our compatriots of Nagorno-Karabakh.

However, the importance of this problem is not limited only to the realities of September and its corresponding consequences. It is also of great importance for us, the dispossessed from the territory of historical Gardman, Shirvan, Nakhichevan. We consider it necessary to raise the issue of our property rights, because in 1988-1992 the private property and property rights of the majority of those who forcibly left the territory of Azerbaijan were radically violated as a result of the widespread looting and violence to which we were subjected.

Therefore, we expect that a detailed study will be conducted in 1988-1992. Regarding the lost property of the forcibly displaced Armenian population from the territory of Azerbaijan, the issues of protection and compensation of our violated rights will also be raised in the international human rights organizations," the statement said, according to Armenpress.
