On December 4, Armenian Armed Forces soldier Gerasim Avetiki Arakelyan was fatally shot by an Azerbaijani Army sniper on the Armenia-Azerbaijan state border in the direction of the Vayots Dzor region of the Republic of Armenia.

"By carrying out such provocations on the border, as well as by continuously rejecting the offers of various international actors to continue negotiations, the Azerbaijani side is trying to delay the peace process and bring it to a dead end.

We strongly condemn these actions of the Azerbaijani side aimed at inciting a new escalation, delaying the peace process and bringing it to a dead end," the statement of the RA Foreign Ministry stated.
