The peace agreement is not about revenges. MP deputy

Gevorg Papoyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Financial, Credit and Budgetary Issues of the National Assembly, referred to the statements of the Azerbaijani side that in order to conclude a peace treaty with Armenia, guarantees excluding revanchism are needed. As "Armenpress" informs, in the briefing with journalists, Papoyan considers these statements illogical.

"I think that the peace agreement is about the fact that there will be no revenges. If there should be a rematch, then what peace treaty?

We must understand that if we want the Republic of Armenia to be strengthened, to have a state and statehood here for a long and long time, to have independence, then that path goes directly through dialogue with the neighbors, and the peace agreement is as necessary for them as it is for us." Papoyan emphasized.

After the conclusion of the peace treaty, the deputy imagines integration at all levels, development of economic relations, prosperity, significant increase in the standard of living in the South Caucasus.

"The peace we imagined has no such thing (revanchism-ed.)," Papoyan said.

According to him, if Armenia announced that it is preparing for rematch, then it is a direct way to not be Armenia.

"And there will be external forces that will incite such sentiments and such vocabulary in Armenia, because those forces do not need Armenia to exist. The policy of extracting chestnuts by someone else's hands is very logical for those forces. And we should not become a tool in the hands of third countries," concluded Papoyan.
