Russia expects Armenia to resume work in the CSTO

Russia expects Armenia to resume normal work in the Collective Security Treaty Organization.

As "Armenpress" reports, in an interview with "RIA Novosti", Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Alexander Pankin said that the urgent return of Armenia to the normal and full working framework of the CSTO will contribute to increasing the effectiveness of the organization's activities.

"We are all interested in the further improvement of CSTO activity and its effectiveness as a military-political alliance. Of course, the urgent return of Armenia to the normal and full working framework of the organization would contribute to this," the deputy minister noted.

However, the official expressed regret that the Armenian allies are keeping themselves away from the above.

Instead of criticizing the organization, the deputy minister called on colleagues in Yerevan to start discussing mature issues at the political and expert levels.

According to Pankin, Moscow assumes that continuing a mutually respectful dialogue with Armenia within the framework of the CSTO corresponds to Yerevan's interests in the field of security, serves to support peace and stability in the Eurasian domain, including the South Caucasus.

Recently, Armenia has boycotted the events held at different platforms of the CSTO and did not participate in the recent meetings at the level of heads of member states, foreign ministers, secretaries of the Security Council, and parliamentarians.
