Armenia and Iran can increase the volumes of electricity and gas supplied to each other in the near future. Armenpress:

Gnel Sanosyan, Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of Armenia, does not rule out that the volume of import and export of gas and electricity between Armenia and Iran may increase in the near future.

In a conversation with "Armenpress" reporter, Gnel Sanosyan first mentioned that a number of coefficients and opportunities have been defined by the "Gas for Electricity" program extended until 2030, which will enable Armenia to import gas and export electricity in a larger volume in the near future.

"I think that we have completed the important stage in terms of legal documents and in the near future, according to the need, needs and infrastructure, we will be able to use this opportunity. New power transmission lines are being built so that we can export larger volumes of electricity to Iran. There is a desire to increase volumes on both sides, and changes will be visible at different stages," the minister elaborated.

Touching on the cooperation with the Iranian side on the projects for the construction of roads, schools and reservoirs in Armenia, Sanosyan clarified that the bigger the projects in those directions, the greater the problem of finding construction companies.

According to Sanosyan, Iran, being a geographically neighboring country and having quite developed companies in the field of construction, can participate in the construction works carried out in Armenia, which is already being carried out in some cases.

"I think it's a mutually beneficial process: we need a construction company, the corresponding construction companies are geographically neighbors and it's easy to involve them in these works," the head of the department expressed his conviction.

Sanosyan also confirmed that the Iranian side is also interested in the projects of building reservoirs in Armenia.

Armenia plans to build about 15 reservoirs, the projects of 3 of which are already in the final stage and will be submitted for tender in the near future.

Speaking about the cooperation with the Iranian side in the direction of road construction, the TKE Minister said that the winner of the tender for the construction works of the Kajaran-Agarak section of the North-South highway was the Iranian company, which is now transporting the main equipment from Iran, and the construction works will start in the near future.
