There is no mandate or contract for the presence of Russian border guards in the Inner Hand region. Nikol Pashinyan

The alarm raised by the EU civilian mission regarding the obstacle to the entrance to the Nerkin Hand is being investigated and conclusions will be drawn as a result of the investigation. As "Armenpress" informs, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this during a question and answer session with members of the government in the National Assembly, answering the question of Anna Grigoryan, deputy of the "Hayastan" faction, what is the mandate of the Russian border guard troops standing in the Inner Hand region, legal on the basis of what agreement and if the entry of the representatives of the EU civilian mission into the Inner Hand region was prevented by the Russian border guard troops, then what is the action of the state in this case? The deputy also reminded that various high-ranking officials of the government declared that the Inner Hand region is the zone of responsibility of the Russian border guards.

"First of all, no one has declared that it is Russia's zone of responsibility. It would be good if you pointed out the specific statement so that it would be more understandable.

As for the statements, an alarm was sounded and that alarm is being investigated in order to understand what obstacles we are talking about, whether there is such an obstacle or not, and as a result of the investigation, a certain conclusion will be drawn," said the Prime Minister.

Referring to the mandate and status of the Russian border guards, the Prime Minister noted that in this case there is no mandate and contract for the presence of the Russian border guards.

"There are many events that may have spontaneously formed on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border due to events known to you. I can say that in this case there is no mandate and contract for the presence of the Russian border guards. If this means that the Russian border guards cannot perform any security function there, it is assumed that appropriate consequences should be drawn from this," concluded the Prime Minister.
