What is happening in Tavush has nothing to do with the delimitation or demarcation of the state border. This is an illegal process, contrary to international rules, with the prospect of massive violations of our rights and compromised security. Azerbaijan will not stop there either. Arman Tatoyan, the former RA MP, wrote about this on his Facebook page.
"Azerbaijani armed officers will appear near the Tavush communities, which will lead to the isolation of the communities, different sections of the interstate road will become unusable and dangerous, and the so-called alternative roads will not fill the gap. Especially the Armenian-Georgian border communication through Tavush will be endangered.
Strategic objects (gas pipelines, water resources, etc.) will come under Azerbaijani target or control.
There will be new displaced people, people will be deprived of the opportunity to move freely and safely, earn family income, pastures, grasslands and arable lands, gardens will become unusable, people's dignity and peace of mind will be disturbed.
In other words, what is happening in Syunik, Vayots Dzor and Gegharkunik will happen, with highlighted strategic security issues. Not to mention the regular Azerbaijani shootings and mine explosions near the communities.
2020 since November, I have constantly said in all possible ways that security cannot be separated from people, that human rights should be put at the basis of Armenian diplomacy and discussions on all international platforms. This would help strengthen Armenia's international defense, including by protecting state borders.
What is happening now is the result of a policy with gross mistakes, which only strengthened and continues to strengthen Azerbaijan and weaken the positions of Armenia," he wrote.
