No one in the world has questioned the number of victims of the Armenian Genocide, it is a Turkish idea. Tatoyan

The government is taking an absolutely unacceptable step against the Armenian identity and the statehood of Armenia, considering the creation of a list of the names of 1.5 million victims of the Armenian Genocide as "building real foundations related to the Genocide". Arman Tatoyan, the former MP of the Republic of Armenia, wrote about this on his Facebook page, referring to the government's latest statement about listing the names of all the victims of the Armenian Genocide.

"The Turkish government has always promoted the idea of questioning the number of victims of the Armenian Genocide, thus advancing its denial policy.

Genocide scientists, as well as the states that recognized the Armenian Genocide, have never questioned the number of 1.5 million victims. It was never even discussed. Moreover, the number of victims has absolutely nothing to do with the crime of genocide. Genocide is the intentional destruction of a group of people based on racial, ethnic, national, or religious hatred, rather than simply killing or exterminating a specific number of people.

This approach is also a blatant disrespect to the memory of the innocent victims.

The statement that the concepts of "Genocide" and "Genocide" are identical is inadmissible. Putting a sign of equality between these concepts is impermissible both from the point of view of Armenia's interests and the process of international genocide prevention.

Genocide is a concept with international legal fixation, it is an internationally recognized crime.

A specific criminal punishment and criminal prosecution mechanism are defined for this.

Moreover, it is the implementation of responsibility and punishment for the crime of genocide that is meant to prevent genocides.

"Yeghern" is only a word of the Armenian language, with an Armenian meaning, which has mostly historical and non-international legal significance, does not cause a crime and therefore has no legal significance," Tatoyan wrote.
