Moscow reacts to the gas reverence of Yerevan and Baku

Doctor of political sciences, professor Vahe Davtyan writes on his Facebook page. "Moscow reacts to the gas reverence of Yerevan and Baku.

Yesterday, during the meeting with the Azerbaijani SOCAR President Najaf, Gazprom President Miller specially emphasized the consistency and important role of Moscow in the supply of natural gas to Armenia.

The issue was brought to the agenda of the meeting at the initiative of Moscow.

Naturally, some formal occasion was needed to include the Armenian direction in the Russian-Azerbaijani gas negotiations. As such, the president of "Gazprom" used the export of 150 million cubic meters of natural gas to Armenia through Azerbaijan-Georgia logistics in March 2021, due to the suspension of the "North Caucasus-Transcaucasia" gas pipeline for the purpose of repair.

In fact, this is an occasion that has long lost its relevance. Moreover, even 2 years ago, it did not contain any geopolitical gap, being only a short-term technical solution.

And despite that, today, in the conditions of the ongoing gas reversals between Yerevan and Baku, Miller reminds about it, showing that Baku can at best act as a participant in the Russia-Armenia "energy dialogue" to solve individual technical problems, as it happened. in 2021.

Naturally, we understand that Miller's statement yesterday was not so much about gas and economic cooperation as about geopolitical landmarks."
