We should do our best to bring that day closer by strengthening RA's defense capability as a priority. Ayvazyan

Historian, Doctor of Political Science Armen Ayvazyan writes:

"A few hours ago, the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) demanded the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Yoav Galant, as well as three leaders of the Hamas movement, for war crimes and crimes against humanity. The judges of the ICC have yet to discuss and issue a decision in this regard.

This is a historic decision that will have extremely serious international consequences, which, however, I will not address now. And now I would like to draw attention to the charges brought forward by the Prosecutor of the ICC against the leaders of Israel, Netanyahu and Galant, which include:

- "causing the extermination of [a people]"

(causing extermination)

- using "starvation of the population as a method of war, including the disruption of humanitarian aid supplies"

("causing starvation as a method of war, including the denial of humanitarian relief supplies")

By the way, this charge is brought forward for the first time in such an international instance.

- "deliberate targeting of civilians in the conflict zone"

("deliberately targeting civilians in conflict").

In addition to these main points, Israeli leaders are accused of launching attacks, killings, suffering and persecution against civilians. It is also emphasized that the leaders of Israel have declared their intention to carry out these crimes, calling the Palestinians, like Gallant, "human animals" and threatening to punish them en masse.

These are exactly the genocidal acts committed by the leadership of Azerbaijan in the years 2020-2024 without being subject to any international criminal responsibility. Moreover, I. Aliyev has repeatedly and much more bluntly expressed his intention to exterminate or deport Armenians in Artsakh. Moreover, in 2023 In the International Court of Justice of the United Nations, the illegality and dangerousness of the actions taken against the Armenian population of Artsakh by Azerbaijan were emphasized twice.

In any case, regardless of how real it is that the ICC will soon issue arrest warrants to Ilham Aliyev and other members of his fascist administration, the current precedent should be used thoroughly both in the international claims presented and to be presented by the relevant bodies of RA, as well as in the work of diasporic structures.

If the leadership of Israel, which has been considered "untouchable" for decades, is suddenly called to account before the international court (the reasons for this are extremely interesting, but we will discuss them later), one fine day the Armenian murderers of Azerbaijan may also be called to the ICC. It is necessary to work towards bringing that day closer, of course, primarily strengthening the defense capability and military security of the Republic of Armenia.

God first."
