Which is important the homeland or the state?

Vahram Mirakyan, co-founder and president of "Mantashyants" businessmen's union, writes:
"Recently, I came across an advertisement that says, "Homeland is the state". Stupidity, because Shushi is my country, but not my state. The state is the homeland, but the homeland is not the state, unfortunately.

Since the 90s, the homeland was important to our government, the state was not. The homeland was important, which was expressed by the fact that the people of those times actively participated in the work of liberating the homeland and achieved success. However, they inherited the attitude towards the state from the experience of the attitude towards the Soviet Union. As a result, they were ready to go to the border at any time to fight for the homeland, but they did not see a problem in stealing a soldier's stew from the state, appointing the most corrupt official as SRC or Minister of Finance, encouraging widespread state corruption and other similar things.

They were patriots, no one could doubt it, because they fought and gave their lives for the homeland, but what does patriotism have to do with the homeland, as they saw and learned during the Soviet Union.

The opposition of that time came to power in 2018 precisely on the basis of this weakness of the authorities: people were tired of the widespread corrupt state system, which alone solved the problems of itself and its relatives.

In 1818, they came to power emphasizing the interest of the state and lost about 25 percent of the homeland to the enemy. Because if they accept the loss of their homeland, they have to admit that they are losers, with all its consequences, and they don't want to accept it, they also associate patriotism with the pathosism of the previous governments, the current government increasingly positions itself that the important thing for them is the state, the homeland is secondary. Well, we will give a few villages, we will give a lake, we will give a church, we will remove Ararat from the coat of arms, that's all, the important thing is that we are building a state, we will have a border.

The current opposition is working on this very weakness of the current authorities: they hand over their homeland, they are traitors, etc. As a result, the same wheel spins again, but in the opposite direction.

Now let me ask again, is the homeland more important or the state?
There is no more important concept, both are the most important. Without a normal state, we will lose our homeland, as it happened recently, and without a homeland, the meaning of the state will also be lost. We will go to California and live.
