Iran's newly elected president reiterates that Tehran opposes any change in international borders
As "Detq" reported earlier, yesterday Nikol Pashinyan had a telephone conversation with the newly elected President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian, congratulating him on the victory in the elections. The Armenian side stated that the interlocutors reaffirmed their loyalty to the agreements reached at the interstate level.
The Iranian state news agency IRNA also reported information about the phone conversation between Pashinyan and Pezeshkian. Pezeshkian particularly emphasized that the Islamic Republic respects the territorial integrity of all countries, and reaffirmed that Tehran is against any change of international borders.
The President of Iran thanked Nikol Pashinyan for the congratulations. He drew attention to the fact that Armenia occupies an important position among Iran's neighbors, and relations with this country are very important for Iran's foreign political system.
"Although Iran's border with Armenia is short, it is the border of hope and peaceful life, and our principled policy towards you is inviolable," he said.
Masoud Pezeshkian also emphasized the loyalty of the Islamic Republic of Iran to its obligations towards Armenia, as well as the willingness to further develop relations.
