Attempts to involve RA in escalating rhetoric are unacceptable. The response of the RA MFA to the Ministry of Defense of Baku

Ani Badalyan, spokesperson of the RA MFA, commented on the statement of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Baku. Badalyan specifically noted:

"The next statement issued by the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan about provocative actions by the army of the Republic of Armenia on the Armenia-Azerbaijan state border is incomprehensible.

Proposals made through the diplomatic channels of the Prime Minister's Office of the Republic of Armenia and publicly to investigate border incidents and/or information about them, to create a joint mechanism between Armenia and Azerbaijan, continue to be unresponsive by Azerbaijan. Launching such a mechanism would make it possible to clarify any situation and prevent the spread of misinformation.

At the same time, attempts to involve the Republic of Armenia in escalating rhetoric are unacceptable. The RA government remains committed to the peace agenda and will not deviate from this strategy.

Regarding the reforms of the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia, the acquisition of weapons and equipment, we have repeatedly stated that having a combat-ready army is the sovereign right of any country, and the Republic of Armenia does not have any other goal in the field of defense and security beyond the protection of its internationally recognized territory. In the process of army reforms, the Republic of Armenia operates exclusively within the framework of international law.

Also, we remind you that the Republic of Armenia through diplomatic channels and publicly offered Azerbaijan to create a mutual mechanism of arms control and sign a corresponding agreement, which Azerbaijan also left unanswered. Despite this, this offer also remains in force."
