The meeting between the presidents of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Azerbaijan, Ebrahim Raisi and Ilham Aliyev, was canceled. According to "Detq", the information is reported by the Azerbaijani "Turan" news agency.

It is reported that the statement of the Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan, Abbas Seyyed Mousavi, that the presidents of Iran and Azerbaijan are planning to meet at the borders of the two countries on the eve of Nowruz, did not come true. At the same time, the media reported that neither Baku nor Tehran specified the reasons for the cancellation of the meeting.

Earlier, in an interview with Azerbaijani media, Mousavi said that the presidents of the two countries will meet in the area of the Khudaferin bridge on the Iran-Azerbaijani border. The opening ceremony of "Khudaferi" and "Kez-kalas" hydroelectric power stations was also supposed to take place there.

The media did not write about the dates and possibility of a new meeting between the presidents of Iran and Azerbaijan.

The existing tension in the relations between Iran and Azerbaijan continues, the proof of which is the cancellation of the meeting between the two presidents. Despite the initiatives of both sides to regulate relations, there are many sensitive problems in the Tehran-Baku axis, which are still not possible to overcome.
