Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Nasser Kanaani, referred to the adoption of a resolution by the UN Security Council on the cease-fire in Gaza. According to "Detq", the information was reported by the Iranian pro-government "Mehr" news agency.

Nasser Kanaani stated that after six months of efforts to prevent the Zionist regime's war crimes and genocide against the Palestinians, this resolution is a positive but insufficient step. According to him, it is more important than the adoption of the resolution to take effective steps towards its implementation, as well as to stop the attacks of the Zionist aggressor regime against the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

The Iranian official emphasized that the blockade of Gaza should be completely lifted, the checkpoints should be reopened in order to deliver international humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip. According to him, it is also extremely important to provide international financial resources for the reconstruction of houses, vital infrastructures, especially hospitals and service centers.

Kanaani added that the reaction of the Zionist regime to this resolution is an indication of the anger caused by the failure in all spheres. "It is expected that the UN Security Council will hold this regime accountable for the violations of the Security Council resolutions and the crimes committed against the homeless people of Palestine in the last six months," he concluded.

Late in the evening of March 25, the UN Security Council approved a resolution demanding the immediate approval of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip. 14 out of 15 members of the Security Council voted in favor of the document.

The adoption of the resolution became possible after the United States announced that it would not exercise its right of veto, limiting itself to abstaining. With the approved resolution, the UN Security Council demands to "increase the delivery of humanitarian aid and expand efforts aimed at protecting the civilian population of the Gaza Strip."
