Shoigu reported that since the beginning of 2024, the Russian military has taken under its control an area of 547 square kilometers.

"Russian troops continue to break through enemy positions along the contact line. The Ukrainian armed forces are trying to stick to certain lines, but as a result of our attacks, they are forced to retreat. "Since the beginning of the year, we have taken control of 547 square kilometers of territory in the new regions of our country," the minister said.
