If we are strong, outer forces cannot break us

"Today, His Highness Bagrat is doing what the political opposition could not do. The archbishop has taken that leadership upon himself, and I think that he fully fulfills the role of a leader. He can bring all of this to a good end, at least I don't see any other way to save the country at the moment," novelist, playwright, member of the Writers' Union of Armenia Gurgen Khanjyan said in a conversation with "Detq", referring to the story that started in Tavush and ended in Yerevan. to the unfolding movement.

"His Highness Bagrat was able to raise the national spirit, the broken spirit, and restore people's dignity. Some people are still waiting, they are still looking at how it will be, what will happen, but what should happen, this is the way. It may be a bit strange that a clergyman is leading the movement, but there is nothing strange for me personally. That man, with his education and knowledge, manly determination and desire and ability to bring good and peace to the people, is now the leader that our people needed. How can you compare him, his character, with, let's say, any representative of the current government," said our interlocutor.

Referring to the question of how far the reconciliation agenda proposed by Bagrat Srbazan was accepted by the society, Gurgen Khanjyan said. "When you are among the participants of the rally, and there were about 100,000 people gathered there on the first day, you feel that change, that presence of reconciliation, how people talk to each other. People miss it. Saint Bagrat can bring inner peace and he does, you just need to be a little patient and persistent.

We, the people, had lost in this issue as well, allowing ourselves to be divided. It was the Turk's victory over all of us. But we can prevent the Turkish plan from coming true, if we strengthen, our spirit strengthens, and it depends on us. It is easy for the weak to deceive and oppress in every way when people look at their leaders and see that weak, kneeling, crouched state. But someone must be there to restore dignity. If we are strong, outside forces cannot break us."

Regarding the question of whether the government is ready to make concessions in response to the anger of the people, the novelist remarked. "We see that the police, the club of the government, is used mercilessly, and I don't know what the government wants. The country is going under their feet, they have clung to the power of those few people. I can't even imagine that the people of this country are themselves, do they have a homeland or not, or are they able to deceive themselves inside? It seems obvious, isn't it, to make such a mistake? Wasn't it clear that the defeated leader will continue the series of defeats, and he will not bring victory from anywhere, that was clear, that was said by smart people. The people made a mistake, but well, let's say the people made a mistake, do you see that? Leave it, go."
