Turkey will launch production of new domestic tanks

President of Turkish Military Industry, Haluk Gyorgun, issued a statement about the updated model of locally produced heavy equipment.

He noted that the "Altay" type tank, based exclusively on Turkish internal resources, will be put into mass production in the near future, but in an already modernized version.

It is emphasized that the above-mentioned type of tank is already equipped with new generation technologies and adapted to the needs of the Turkish Armed Forces.

The experience gained as a result of the military operations carried out by the Turkish armed forces in recent years served as the basis for the changes.

The prototype of the Turkish tank "Altay" appeared back in 2011. Through the local production of tanks, Turkey intended to replace the German "Leopard-1" and "Leopard-2" type tanks in its arsenal.
