The Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Support of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Ashtiani, announced that the country's armed forces tested a domestically produced transport aircraft. According to "Detq", the Iranian "Tasnim" news agency informs about this.

"The other day, the Simorgh transport plane, which was assembled at the Iranian Aircraft Manufacturing Industrial Company, was tested. The tests of that plane are being carried out with the support of the Civil Aviation Organization of Iran, after that the "Simorg" plane will join the country's aircraft fleet," he said.

The head of Iran's defense department noted that the second plane of this model is currently being assembled. According to him, the problem of creating "Simorg" was put before the Ministry of Defense by the late president of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi.

Ashtiani added that some parts of the plane are produced in Iran, and Tehran cooperates with a number of foreign countries to secure the other part.

It is said that the "Simorg" tactical transport aircraft, which has a turboprop engine, can provide a speed of 530 km/h, and it is designed to transport up to 6 tons of cargo.
