At best, the peace treaty with Azerbaijan will be a framework document about some common principles, but it will not change anything for Armenia in terms of peace and security. Former RA Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazyan said this in an interview to "Sputnik Armenia", commenting on the latest statement of the RA Foreign Ministry that Yerevan is ready to conclude the work on the peace treaty within a month and sign it with Baku.

According to Ayvazyan, the problems are much deeper than the issue of signing within certain deadlines. And Baku has repeatedly shown that it can violate its promises and international obligations in an instant.

"If we analyze the situation and the intentions of Azerbaijan, then any document cannot become an obstacle for Azerbaijan and Turkey, which supports it, in the way of new encroachments. And it is not necessarily by military means. there are various means of aggression and pressure, even psychological, through which Azerbaijan will extract new concessions from Armenia. So we should not have the illusion that the document will put an end to all our troubles. In our opinion, there will be no peace," he said.

In the current situation, the former foreign minister expresses his belief that Armenia is not alone, and the existence of Armenia as a viable state in this region is not only from the national interests of Armenia, but also corresponds to the state interests of a number of countries and international actors.
"And this is where we should be able to form a strategic dialogue and deep cooperation," added Ayvazyan.
