Germany to Allocate $200 Million to Ukraine Under U.S. Arms Procurement Program
Germany will contribute $200 million to a new aid package for Ukraine under the PURL program (Procurement of U.S. Weapons for Ukraine), German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius announced upon arriving at a scheduled meeting of NATO defense ministers, according to TASS.
“We will participate in a PURL package once again — for the fourth time,” Pistorius said.
He explained that the funding is primarily intended for urgently needed ammunition for air defense systems.
“This time, our contribution will amount to $200 million,” the minister stated.
Pistorius also noted that his Ukrainian counterpart, Mykhailo Fedorov, had requested support for the JumpStart program, which предусматривает the purchase of guided missiles for the Patriot air defense system.
“We have also declared our readiness to participate in that initiative with an additional $200 million for the procurement of PAC-3 missiles,” he said.
The Russian side has repeatedly stated that arms supplies to Kyiv only prolong the conflict in Ukraine.
