Azerbaijan will fail to carry out ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh, RA will not allow it. Simonyan
The Speaker of the National Assembly made such a statement during a briefing in the National Assembly on June 26. Alen Simonyan emphasized that Yerevan uses all international levers in this matter.
"I think that this statement harms the Azerbaijani side, because in the case of such realities, they do not solve the issue that has been the cause of the problem for decades. It is an escape from reality, it will not be a solution to the issue, it is not in their hands that these issues are not discussed. I'm sure they will come to it at some stage, even now, I think it's just to set a high bar before the negotiations and then backtrack as an initial stage of negotiations. it's my impression and my opinion," said Simonyan, referring to the statement of Azerbaijan's Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, in which the latter rejected Armenia's demand to provide special security guarantees for about 120 thousand ethnic Armenians living in Nagorno-Karabakh before the new round of peace negotiations.
Alen Simonyan answered the question whether Baku will finally agree to the implementation of the Baku-Stepanakert international mechanism. "For us, it is an important issue regarding the rights of Armenians, that issue cannot simply be forgotten, it is self-deception. If Azerbaijan is ready to engage in self-deception, Armenia is not ready. We will follow up on our statements."
Alen Simonyan found it difficult to say whether the mechanisms will be included in the peace agreement or will become a separate document.
"I have no clue if that part will be included in the peace agreement or if it will be a separate document. we talked about it, concrete guarantees are needed, because we have an example. In the case of November 9, that the conditions are not met, and the guarantor, as such, does not take action or is unable to take action. I'm not sure now that we should put it in the peace treaty, and not in some other document where a country or a few countries would be guarantors, so I want to say that if the issue was not discussed, if it was not included, if the issue was not resolved, then that at least most of the negotiations can be considered meaningless talk," said Simonyan.
