Putin thanked Lukashenko for contributing to the peaceful settlement

Russian President Vladimir Putin thanked the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, for contributing to the peaceful resolution of the rebellion raised by Yevgeny Prigozhin, the head of the private military organization "Wagner" in Russia. At the same time, the Russian leader thanked the military, law enforcement and intelligence agencies of the country, as well as the pilots who died as a result of the uprising, who stood in the way of the rebels.

"Thank you to all our military, law enforcement, special services who stood in the way of the rebels, remained faithful to their duty, oath and their people. "The bravery and self-sacrifice of the martyred heroic pilots saved Russia from a tragedy, the consequences of which would have been devastating," he noted.

As a result of negotiations with the President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, Yevgeny Prigozhin agreed to end the rebellion in return for security guarantees. The Russian President highly appreciates Lukashenko's mediation, thanks to which it was possible to avoid bloodshed.
