"Works on the modernization of the armed forces of Azerbaijan, reforms in this field, including the acquisition of the most modern weapons and equipment, are proceeding according to plan," President Ilham Aliyev said at the meeting dedicated to the socio-economic results of the 6th month of 2023.

"We should raise the armed forces of Azerbaijan to the level of the most advanced armies, naturally, taking into account the scale of Azerbaijan. In terms of structural reforms, governance and self-defense, we are building such a force that we can feel confident in the geography where we are. It is still the same today, but bigger things need to be done," Aliyev said.

  "Of course, one of the problems we face is relations with Armenia. The result does not depend only on us. However, our policy pushes the Armenian side to take important steps. But, of course, this is a mutual activity," he emphasized.
