NATO has urged Iran to cease giving military assistance to Russia

The leaders of the NATO member states adopted a joint statement during the July 12 summit in Vilnius, in which they urged the Islamic Republic of Iran to cease providing military support to the Russian Federation, especially the supply of Iranian-made drones. According to "Detq", the British "Reuters" news agency informs about this.

It is reported that NATO leaders emphasized that Iran's support for Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine affects Euro-Atlantic security. "We urge Iran to end military assistance to Russia, especially the supply of drones used to attack critical infrastructure and cause many civilian casualties," the statement said.

At the same time, NATO member states have expressed deep concern regarding "Iran's malicious actions in allied territory".

"We also call on Iran to refrain from destructive actions, as well as hijacking ships in open waters, and to play a constructive role in ensuring regional stability and peace," the statement said.

Since the autumn of last year, the authorities of Ukraine and its Western allies claim that Iran supplies the Russian Federation with drones, which that country uses to attack Ukrainian infrastructure. The Iranian side categorically denies these accusations, stating that it does not supply weapons to any of the warring parties, as this contributes to the continuation of the war, which it opposes.
