We cannot be part of Azerbaijan, and that's it. Nationwide Movement of Artsakh
The complete blockade of Artsakh, which has been ongoing for 7 months, has reached a critical point, when the lives of 120,000 people, including 30,000 children and 20,000 elderly people, are seriously threatened. This was announced at the rally of the popular movement in Stepanakert on July 14, Artsakh HRD Gegham Stepanyan.
"When the ontological threats that are undeniable and emphasized hang over the head of an entire people. Being under siege and completely cut off from humanitarian access since June 15, our people have faced the undeniable threat of malnutrition, hunger, ethnic cleansing, forced subjugation and genocide carried out openly by Azerbaijan. Today is another moment to sound the alarm," Stepanyan said.
He appealed to all actors of the international community. "Human rights, you say? So tell me, how can I look these people in the eye and tell them they have rights too? How do I look a malnourished woman in the eyes of a pregnant woman whose baby may be born with defects? How do I look into the eyes of mothers whose biggest dream of the day is to find a handful of fruit or candy for their child?
How am I supposed to look into the eyes of thousands of people standing in line for hours to get a handful of sugar or oil? And finally, how can I look into the eyes of the victims’ mother, who gave her most precious for this piece of land, who looks at me with terrified eyes, fearing that she will lose the last sanctity left to her, her son's grave?
I want you to look them in the eye, you answer them because I can't find any more answers.
Talking about human rights in beautiful and luxurious halls is one thing, proving the protection of those rights with practical steps is another thing. We are concerned, we are very concerned, we are deeply concerned, we call and other similar statements.
That's enough, that's enough. While you express bare concerns, 120,000 people are subjected to inhuman deprivation."
The Human Rights Council of Artsakh also appealed to the Russian peacekeepers, to whom the role of the main guarantor of the right to life and physical existence of the people of Artsakh was assigned by the tripartite statement of 2020. "We were promised peace. Peace is not about reporting cease-fire violations in the newspapers every day. Peace is not dragging a physical existence for daily bread, peace is not being a hostage in one's homeland and deprived of everything. Peace is not the psychological attacks and uncertainties thrown at us every day.
Stand up for your mandate to ensure real peace, to ensure the prosperous life that you have promised our people at the highest level."
Gegham Stepanyan also appealed to the people of Armenia. "As usual, this time stand in defense of Artsakh, don't leave the Armenian living in Artsakh alone with his sacred dream.
Brothers and sisters living in the Diaspora, many of you know, following the example of your ancestors, what it means to be genocided, to be deprived of your country, what it means to live far from the homeland, with longing for the homeland in your heart. I am asking you, if you want, I am begging you to step up to prevent the new genocide of the Armenian people. Rise up to force the world to take responsibility for the fate of Armenians at least this time.
We cannot be part of Azerbaijan, and that's it. Finally understand. Let all those who still have illusions on this occasion answer whether it was possible for the Jews to imagine life in Nazi Germany. Yes, Azerbaijan is the same Nazi country where society is completely imbued with Armenian hatred.
Artsakh will live, will last in spite of all odds and enemies and for the glory of all Armenians."
It should be noted that today, on July 14, the popular movement was launched in Artsakh. Thousands of Artsakh citizens gathered in Stepanakert's Revival Square. Artsakh State Minister Gurgen Nersisyan announced the start of the movement yesterday. Artsakh President Arayik Harutyunyan is also participating in the rally.
Later, the former Minister of State of Artsakh, Ruben Vardanyan, made a video message and announced that he was joining the movement.
The goal of the movement is to achieve the unblocking of the Lachin Corridor.
