Iran's territorial integrity cannot be discussed. Ghalibaf

Mohammad Ghalibaf, Chairman of the Mejlis of the Islamic Republic of Iran stated that Iran's territorial integrity cannot be discussed with any party. According to "Detq", the Iranian state news agency IRNA informs about this.

Ghalibaf criticized the recent joint statement of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council and Russia regarding the three Iranian islands in the Persian Gulf. According to him, the Islamic Council of Iran categorically rejects the joint statement of the Persian Gulf countries and Russia regarding the three Iranian islands.

The Iranian official stressed that currently Iran and Russia, as two important countries in the region, are developing cooperation in various fields based on common interests. At the same time, he drew attention to the fact that the Russian side should cooperate with other countries, taking into account the red lines of the Iranian people, including territorial integrity and sovereignty over the Lesser Tonb, Greater Tonb and Abu Musa islands.

The latter added that at the moment the north-south route is one of the important trade axes for Russia, and the power of Iran is the guarantor of the stability of the Persian Gulf against American hegemony.

The aforementioned three islands in the Persian Gulf are the subject of a territorial dispute between Iran and the United Arab Emirates, as both sides claim their sovereignty over the islands. The problem arose when they were handed over to the UAE during the British occupation, and Iran still does not accept that decision.

Last week, a meeting was held between Russia and the countries of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council. After the meeting, the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council and Russia issued a joint statement, in which there were unacceptable wordings for Iran, and Ghalibaf's reference is related to the aforementioned statement.
