Iran and Oman are on the path of developing economic relations. Abdullahi

Hossein Amir Abdollahian, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stated that Iran and Oman are on the path of developing economic relations. According to "Detq", the Iranian state news agency “IRNA” informs about this.

Abdollahian noted during the meeting with Oman's Foreign Minister Badr bin Hamad al-Busaidin that during the last 22 months, the volume of trade between Iran and Oman has increased more than two and a half times. "We believe that relations between neighboring countries can be expanded, and that is what the region needs today," he said.

At the same time, Iran's Foreign Minister expressed his displeasure regarding the statement made between a number of Persian Gulf countries and Russia regarding the three islands. He noted that Tehran is extremely determined in the issues of its independence and territorial integrity.

"Yesterday, through the diplomatic channel, we received clarifications from the Russian authorities regarding this statement, but we do not consider these explanations sufficient," he said.

The Foreign Minister of Oman also positively assessed the meeting with his Iranian counterpart. He emphasized that Oman's policy is always based on the principle of neighborliness and playing a positive role in reducing tensions.

Iran attaches importance to the deepening of cooperation with Oman because the latter is a country of the Persian Gulf region, which is extremely important for Iran. Especially by deepening the relations between the countries of the Persian Gulf region, the Iranian side seeks to counterbalance the presence of its geopolitical opponent, the USA, in the region.
