The senior leadership of the Iranian Armed Forces visited the border with Azerbaijan

Mohammad Bagheri, the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, accompanied by the Commander-in-Chief of the country's army and high-ranking officials of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, visited the zero point of the Iranian-Azerbaijani border. According to "Detq", the Iranian pro-government "Mehr" news agency informs about this.

It is reported that Bagheri had a meeting with the border guards on duty at the zero point of the border in the city of Poldasht. During the meeting, the latter highly appreciated the efforts made by the Iranian border guards in protecting the territory of the country.

The head of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces emphasized that the preventive power of the Iranian Armed Forces is greater than ever. He drew attention to the fact that all units of the Iranian Armed Forces have been brought to a state of full combat readiness.

Bagheri also informed that the purpose of this visit is to discuss the latest situation of defense on the border between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan.

"Iran's defense doctrine is actually based on the principle of deterrence. To create a real deterrent force, it is necessary to have reliable military and weapons capabilities and powerful armed forces," he concluded.

Especially in the conditions of tension in the relations between Iran and Azerbaijan, Iran attaches importance to the security of the borders with this country. At the same time, the Iranian side is concerned about the fact that an Israeli presence has been established on the Azerbaijani side of the border, which can create a threat for Iran at any time and turn the territory of Azerbaijan into a springboard.
