The foreign ministers of Turkey and Iran had a telephone conversation
On July 23, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan had a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian.
"During the meeting, the bilateral relations, the activities of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the joint measures that should be taken against attacks on the Koran were discussed," said the statement issued by the Turkish Foreign Ministry.
Remember that on July 20, the Swedish embassy was attacked in Baghdad. Several hundred supporters of Shia figure Moqtada al-Sadr attacked the embassy building and set it on fire.
According to "Reuters", the reason for the attack was the permission given by the Swedish police yesterday. With that, the Swedish law enforcement officers allowed two residents of Stockholm to hold a protest action in the vicinity of the Iraqi embassy in Sweden in the coming days. According to the circulating news, during that action, the holy book of Muslims, the Koran, as well as the flag of Iraq will be set on fire.
