Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced this in an interview with the Chinese media corporation "ChinaMediaGroup", noting that Armenia's agreement will be reached in the near future.

"Why do I think so? As Armenia has already had to make a very important statement that they not only recognize the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, which they officially confirmed in October last year and confirmed many times before, but also in May of this year they confirmed that they recognize Karabakh as part of Azerbaijan. They recognize the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan on 86,600 square kilometers, which includes Karabakh and eight Azerbaijani enclaves on the territory of Armenia. It is a really important statement, after which it remains only to put it on paper and sign it. And our position regarding the peace treaty after the end of the second Karabakh war was that it should be based on the norms and principles of international law. We have developed five main international principles that should be the basis of the peace agreement. We have held negotiations several times and will continue them at the end of July. The only main disagreement in that agreement was that my earlier words regarding Karabakh, that it is part of Azerbaijan, should be officially recognized by Armenia," said the dictator of Baku.

Speaking about the fate of the Armenian population of Artsakh, the President of Azerbaijan stated that their rights and security will be ensured on the basis of the Constitution of Azerbaijan. "Azerbaijan is a country where dozens of different ethnic groups live, including Armenians, and we have never had any problems on religious or ethnic grounds. Therefore, Armenians living in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan will have the same rights and security guarantees as other citizens of Azerbaijan. I think that it fully complies with the norms of international law. The international community supports this position of Azerbaijan," he concluded.
