If the Russian Federation decides to withdraw from Nagorno-Karabakh, it means that there is no longer any risk of mass slaughter of the population. Pashinyan

The deployment of the Russian peacekeeping troops in Nagorno-Karabakh has a purpose, and it is recorded in the relevant decision of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. In that decision, it is said that the RF Federal Assembly allows the RF President to send a peacekeeping force to Artsakh (NK - ed.) in order to prevent the mass death of the population there. RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said this today, July 25, during a press conference.

"This wording is taken from the Russian President's address to the Federal Assembly on that occasion. In other words, the President of the Russian Federation himself appealed to the Federal Assembly that a peacekeeping force should be sent to Nagorno-Karabakh to prevent the mass slaughter of the population," Pashinyan said.

According to him, "now if Russia decides to withdraw, regardless of the subtleties, it at least means that there is no such danger in Nagorno-Karabakh anymore. If there is such a danger in NK, it is difficult to imagine how such a decision can be made. And if there is no such danger, it means that the Baku-Stepanakert dialogue within the framework of the international mechanism has been effective, and the parties note that there is no longer a need for the presence of the peacekeeping force."
