Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan has announced that the country's Mejlis will make a final decision on Sweden's NATO membership in October. According to "Detq", the Turkish "Haber Global" news agency informs that Fidan said this during a joint press conference with his Hungarian colleague Peter Szijártó in Budapest.
The Turkish Foreign Minister emphasized that Ankara expects that Stockholm will take all necessary steps in the fight against terrorism in order to become a member of NATO. According to him, Turkey works in coordination with Hungary in this matter.
Hakan Fidan drew attention to the fact that the fight against terrorism is extremely important for the future members of NATO.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey added that within the framework of the NATO Summit in Vilnius, Turkey once again presented its demands to Sweden and its alliance partners. He said that the final decision of the Turkish side will depend on Sweden's further steps.
