"Baku can do whatever it deems necessary in the Lachin Corridor." Foreign Ministry of Turkey

Hakan Fidan, Turkish Foreign Minister, announced at a joint press conference with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov that Baku has the right to take the steps it deems necessary in the Berdzor corridor.

"As you know, Lachin Corridor is the territory of Azerbaijan, so Baku takes the measures it deems necessary, it is its sovereign right. Those who need it for medical reasons can pass through the corridor, other routes have also been allocated for large-scale cargo transportation. Considering all these factors, we believe that there is no real basis for criticizing Azerbaijan," Fidan stated in Ankara.

He noted that first of all, a peace agreement should be signed between Baku and Yerevan in order to ensure the settlement of Turkey's relations with Armenia and ensure stability in the region. In this context, the Turkish Foreign Minister highlighted the opening of the "Zangezur Corridor".

To remind: on December 12, 2022, a group of Azerbaijanis in civilian clothes closed the Stepanakert-Goris highway connecting Artsakh to Armenia with false environmental reasons, from where they left on April 28, because on April 23, Azerbaijan installed a checkpoint on the Berdzor road, taking it completely as its own control. Artsakh was also deprived of gas and electricity supplied from Armenia.
