It was easy to communicate with Armenians in Karabakh without Russian peacekeepers. Aliev

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev said in an interview to "Euronews" that it is easy to communicate with Armenians in Karabakh without Russian peacekeepers.

"As for the Armenians of Karabakh, I want to remind you that our contacts with them started immediately. Basically, these were contacts at the level of ordinary people, when we started to build the new Lachin road, which passed through several Armenian-inhabited villages. I was informed that connections were established between our road builders and the Armenian community. They immediately became friends. If during the first months of construction, Russian peacekeepers ensured the security of both sides, then they simply left, and it was easy to communicate without Russian peacekeepers. This suggests that most ordinary people do not have this hatred in their hearts. Karabakh Armenians should not follow their so-called "leaders". Those "leaders" constantly lied to them both before and during the war that they were winning. They said they were winning even when we took control of Shush (ed.). But they said that Shushi (ed.) was under their control, although they knew very well that this was not the case," said Aliyev.
