Stepanakert sends suggestions about meetings, but Baku does not respond. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Artsakh
Azerbaijan's option to open Akna road is not acceptable. Artsakh Foreign Minister Sergey Ghazaryan said this today, on August 30, in a conversation with journalists.
"What Azerbaijan presents in the form of an ultimatum, our compatriots have expressed their position on it. But in this version, when the Azerbaijani side tries to impose, it is not acceptable, and you can see how our compatriots reacted to a similar proposal," he noted.
Referring to the observation that the AU authorities do not seem to be against Azerbaijan's proposal, the minister replied that the government's obligation is to discuss all kinds of proposals that come both from the mediators and from the Azerbaijani side. "But these offers must be reasonable."
Referring to the statement of Hikmet Hajiyev, assistant to the President of Azerbaijan, that after the opening of the road from Akna to Stepanakert, the road to Berdzor will also be opened within 24 hours, the foreign minister said. "Unfortunately, even the document of November 9, under which there is the signature of the President of Azerbaijan, it is the Azerbaijani side that violates the obligations assumed by it. Any step during this period does not indicate that the Azerbaijani side will fulfill its obligations."
To the question: Is a meeting between Stepanakert and Baku possible in the near future, Sergey Ghazaryan said. "The Artsakh side is the most interested side, so that we can try to find mutually acceptable solutions to even the most difficult issues peacefully, through negotiations, but the Azerbaijani side avoids it. We regularly send proposals about meetings through Russian peacekeepers, but the Azerbaijani side simply does not respond."
