Azerbaijan and Italy discussed the possibilities of deepening military cooperation

On October 31, the First Deputy Minister of Defense of Azerbaijan, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Colonel-General Kerim Veliyev met with the delegation of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Italy, headed by the Chief of the General Staff, Admiral Giuseppe Cavo Dragone, who is on a visit to Azerbaijan.

Speaking about the large-scale reforms implemented in the field of army construction, Veliev emphasized the importance of the use of new technologies in the Azerbaijani army and the work carried out in the field of cyber security.

Dragone, for his part, said that there are wide opportunities for expansion of military cooperation between the two countries. He emphasized mutual visits between the two countries in the development of relations.

The need for further expansion of military relations based on strategic partnership between Azerbaijan and Italy was specially emphasized at the meeting.

The parties discussed the prospects for the development of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy in the military, military-technical, military-educational and other fields, as well as a number of issues of mutual interest.

The prestigious Italian newspaper "La Repubblica" reported earlier that Azerbaijan is conducting negotiations with Italy to purchase various types of military equipment, weapons and military equipment, the total value of which varies between 1-2 billion euros.
