Another court hearing in the case of Vagif Khachatryan continues today in Azerbaijan. The criminal case is being investigated in the administrative building of the Yasamal District Court under the chairmanship of Baku Military Court Judge Zeinal Aghayev. At the court session in Baku, they demanded a 15-year prison term for Vagif Khachatryan and explained why. This is reported by the Azerbaijani "Report" website, according to "Detq". According to the legislation of Azerbaijan, life imprisonment of persons who have reached the age of 65 before the sentencing is prohibited. V. Due to the fact that Khachatryan is 65 years old, it is not possible to sentence him to life imprisonment. In addition, currently, according to Azerbaijani legislation, the maximum punishment for serious crimes for persons over 65 years of age is 20 years imprisonment. In Azerbaijan, Vagif Khachatryan was charged with two articles of the criminal code: genocide and forced displacement. Azerbaijan accuses him of carrying out the "genocide" that took place in the village of Meshali on December 22, 1991. Let's remind that 68-year-old Vagif Khachatryan from Artsakh was kidnapped on July 29 in the corridor of Berdzor and taken to Baku when he tried to move to Armenia accompanied by the International Committee of the Red Cross for treatment.
