Iran's ambassador to Armenia reaffirms that they support Armenia's territorial integrity
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Armenia Mehdi Sobhani reaffirmed that Iran supports Armenia's territorial integrity and sovereignty, as well as strong and long-term peace in the region. According to "Detq", the ambassador said this at the conference "New Regional Realities" and "Crossroads of Peace" held in Yerevan.
Sobhani is sure that such events can open new opportunities for both countries. According to him, the long-standing ties between Armenia and Iran are important for the current development of relations.
"Our common border with Armenia is the shortest compared to other countries in the region, but from the point of view of quality, it is one of the best. That border has always been a border of friendship and neighborliness. The two countries have never threatened each other and have always created opportunities for mutual development. The volume of our mutual trade has increased and reaches 1 billion dollars. The countries signed mutually beneficial agreements in the field of energy and infrastructure development," the diplomat noted.
The latter said that the potential of developing relations is also being studied. According to his conviction, the unblocking of communications will contribute to the development of relations not only between the two countries, but also between all the countries of the region.
Sobhani added that transit opportunities from India to the Black Sea through Armenia will open a reliable way for the movement of goods to Europe. In this context, he emphasized the importance of India and Armenia in participating in that project.

Even after the 44-day Artsakh war of 2020, the Islamic Republic of Iran expressed a principled position that it will not tolerate if the territorial integrity of the Republic of Armenia and the border of the 1000-year-old Armenian-Iranian friendship are violated. This has significantly curbed the aspirations of the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem, which has recently claimed that they are no longer interested in the operation of the so-called "Zangezur Corridor".
