Although the President of Azerbaijan has stated that he has no territorial ambitions towards Armenia, there are disagreements regarding the opening of communication channels. Charles Michel, the head of the European Council, said this in an exclusive interview to Azat, referring to the observation that what is the basis of the fear that the West continues to warn Azerbaijan about respecting the territorial integrity of Armenia.

"Actually, to be honest, there is a debate about the specific ways to connect Nakhichevan to Azerbaijan, to make sure that they respect the sovereignty and legislation of Armenia," Michel said.

Despite the efforts of the West to contribute to peace in the region, in fact, the ongoing negotiations with the mediation of the European Union and Washington have stopped during the last month. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has rejected three meetings one after the other with different reasons.

"Don't you have the impression that the Azerbaijani side is delaying the process and misleading you?" - "Michel responded to the question of freedom: Brussels is optimistic and "continues attempts to organize a new meeting".

However, Baku has not yet agreed to a high-level meeting.
