Moscow has invited Armenia and Azerbaijan to hold talks in the Russian Federation in the near future
We confirm our proposal to organize the next round of negotiations on a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan in Russia in the very near future. This is stated in the statement of the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, reports "News.am".
"In the matter of unblocking transport communications, it was Yerevan that from time to time in every way "froze" the exit to specific agreements, through a tripartite working group, co-chaired by the deputy prime ministers. In particular, the Armenian side has been blocking the start of works on the restoration of railway communication between Azerbaijan and Armenia for many months, refusing to fulfill the provisions of point 9 of the high-level statement of November 9, 2020.
Despite the importance of the recent agreements between Baku and Yerevan, on the exchange of prisoners and the agreement on the regulation of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border demarcation commission, with the advisory support of Russia, the actual demarcation work, which the three leaders agreed on back in November 2021, has not yet begun.
The suspension of the above-mentioned decisions of high-ranking leaders is a direct consequence of the inconsistency of Yerevan's actions, and not of Moscow's policies, as some are trying to claim.
The way out of this difficult situation is obvious: to return to the implementation of tripartite agreements, for which the Russian side is ready to provide all the necessary assistance, the relevance and usefulness of which have been proven more than once," he noted.
