The possibility of including the latest Soviet maps in the peace treaty is being discussed. Mirzoyan
At the moment, the possibility of including the latest Soviet maps in the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace treaty is being discussed, Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan announced today in response to the inquiry of "Azatutyn", during a joint press conference with the Foreign Minister of Iran.
"Azatutyun" specifically inquired whether there could be a reference to the 1975-90 years or the most recent Soviet maps in the peace agreement.
"It's the newest Soviet map. I want to emphasize principles again: it is extremely important for us that the further demarcation process is predictable, its principles, its foundations are fixed in the peace treaty. For us, the reference to the maps is such a manifestation to ensure that it provides some predictability without necessarily predetermining the results, otherwise the demarcation process would be pointless. "At the moment, yes, we are discussing the possibility of including maps as a manifestation of fixing the principle of demarcation, providing predictability for demarcation," answered the Foreign Minister.
