Discussions about the expediency of the 102nd Russian military base in Armenia are harmful. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation

We consider the judgments regarding the expediency of the location of the 102nd Russian military base in the territory of Armenia to be harmful. This was announced by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in an interview with TASS.

"The agreement on the deployment of the military base there was signed on March 16, 1995, relying primarily on national interests and the common problem of our states of strengthening stability in the South Caucasus," Lavrov said.

He noted that today the Russian military is the key element of ensuring peace in that region.

In November, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, responding to The Wall Street Journal's question whether Russia's military presence in Armenia is an advantage or a hindrance, said that, unfortunately, he did not see the advantages.
