According to the Secretary of the Security Council, the "peace agreement" will fully meet the interests of Armenia
I have no doubt that the "peace agreement", if we reach the signing, will fully meet the interests of Armenia. Armen Grigoryan, the secretary of the Security Council of Armenia, said this in an interview with the Public Television Company, referring to the criticism of the opposition after getting acquainted with the details of the "peace treaty".
"In our opinion, it is in Armenia's interest that the territorial integrity and sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia be protected by the "peace treaty". At the moment, Armenia is negotiating on these issues, and I am sure that we will make progress in these issues. There cannot be a document that contradicts the interests of RA, and we sign it," said Grigoryan
According to him, the goal of the "peace treaty" is that there should be peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and the meaning of the negotiations is to be able to achieve that peace. "The purpose of that agreement is to create guarantees, and these guarantees are created with the proposals of the Armenian side, that is, what is on the negotiation table and what Armenia has proposed, thereby creating security guarantees for Armenia."
Referring to the criticism of the National Assembly member Ishkhan Saghatelyan that with the "peace agreement" Azerbaijan is capitalizing on what it has achieved by force of arms, Grigoryan noted that this agreement is about trying to create coexistence in the region between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and two countries do not have territorial ambitions towards each other.
The Secretary of the Security Council excluded the discussion of any corridor issue. "There can be no question of any corridor, such a thing is excluded. Azerbaijanis verbally assure us that they accept the 4 principles of RA: sovereignty, jurisdiction, reciprocity and equality, and we will record these 4 principles in the "peace agreement" during the negotiations.
