The peace agreement cannot be signed at the moment if Azerbaijan does not accept the basic points for the Armenian side. Khandanyan
Armenia considers the signing of a peace treaty with Azerbaijan as possible when the Azerbaijani side accepts the basic points for the Armenian side, one of which is the unconditional recognition of Armenia's territorial integrity. Sargis Khandanyan, the chairman of the NA Foreign Relations Committee, said this in a briefing with journalists at the National Assembly.
"Our expectation from this negotiation process is that the agreements, which the Armenian side continuously records in the peace agreement, will be accepted by Azerbaijan, and Azerbaijan will accept them publicly. When they are not accepted, it means that the contract cannot be signed at the moment. Armenia will continue to insist on these principles. I suppose that in the latest version of the agreement, which was sent to Baku, the provisions that are very fundamental for us have been included again," he said, reminding that Armenia has very clearly expressed its position regarding the recognition of the territorial integrity of the countries. However, until now, Armenia has not seen this from the Azerbaijani side.
To the question of whether it is possible to sign a peace treaty even if Azerbaijan does not recognize Armenia's 29 thousand 800 square meters. km area territorial integrity, Khandanyan said. "I think that when Azerbaijan approves and accepts the principles presented by Armenia, then it will be possible to sign the peace agreement. One of those principles is the unconditional recognition of territorial integrity."
