The Foreign Ministers of Iran and Russia discussed the situation in the Middle East
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir Abdollahian, had a telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Sergey Lavrov. Abdollahian and Lavrov also exchanged views on international issues of mutual interest, including the situation in and around the Gaza Strip and the Red Sea. They emphasized the importance of intensifying political dialogue and practical cooperation in accordance with the agreements reached by the leaders of the two countries.
Sergey Lavrov expressed his condolences to his Iranian counterpart "in connection with the tragic death of the people who gathered in the Iranian city of Kerman to commemorate the anniversary of the martyrdom of General Qassem Soleimani and were killed by terrorists." The parties reaffirmed their mutual obligations for further coordination of efforts to combat international terrorism.
The heads of foreign political departments of Iran and Russia have agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation in all fields.
